Semantic SEO & Generative Engine Optimisation

Paul David Truscott

Qualified financial technical analyst applying analytical discipline to semantic SEO and generative engine optimisation, helping brands become visible, retrievable, and accurately represented across the entire AI search landscape.

Why Brand Visibility Now Depends on AI Retrieval

Google organic results are one surface. AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and Perplexity are the others. Your brand either appears when these systems answer a question in your space, or it does not.

That outcome is not random. It is the direct result of how your content is structured, how your entity is corroborated across the web, and whether your knowledge graph profile gives AI systems a reason to retrieve you over someone else.

Bronwen Wood Prize 2011

The Analytical Foundation

I earned my STA Diploma in Technical Analysis with Distinction and won the Bronwen Wood Memorial Prize in 2011 — the Society of Technical Analysts' premier annual award, given for the highest-scoring paper in the Part 2 examination. Fewer than twenty people received it between 2005 and 2025.

I hold the IFTA Certified Financial Technician (CFTe) designation, an Advanced Diploma from the Australian Technical Analysts Association, and Full Membership (MSTA) of the STA. Financial markets are where I learned to read complex systems under uncertainty: to separate signal from noise, identify structural inefficiency, and act on evidence rather than opinion.

From Technical Analysis to Semantic Search

I have worked in SEO since 2015, studying how Google works through patents, SERP data, and direct testing. From 2022, I spent four years going deep into Koray Tugberk Gubur's semantic SEO methodology: his lectures, his case studies, and his topical authority framework from first principles.

I have built and operated dedicated niche websites for national home service providers across the United States, generating over 150,000 leads for local service businesses over the last six years. These sites achieve ranking positions through semantic content networks, topical maps, and structured knowledge graph signals rather than link acquisition.

What Industry Leaders Say

I've had Paul Truscott on my podcast several times — he's one of the sharpest minds in SEO today. He doesn't repeat what everyone else says; he tests things himself and tells you what actually matters.

I've been in a mastermind with Paul and I'll tell you straight, the guy understands how Google actually processes information at a level most SEOs don't even know exists. He doesn't guess, he tests. He doesn't follow trends, he reads patents. When he talks about semantic SEO and GEO, it's not recycled theory. It's stuff he's figured out by getting his hands dirty. That's rare in this industry.

Paul Truscott is one of the few people whose take on semantic SEO and GEO actually changes how I think about the space. Not just interesting, genuinely useful.

I've spoken to Paul Truscott many times, and every conversation gives me a new perspective on semantic SEO and GEO. Whether it's topical maps or query fan-out, he breaks down concepts most people just repeat without really understanding.

As someone who architects enterprise systems and structured data models every day, I recognised immediately that Paul Truscott approaches search very differently from most SEO consultants. What impressed me most is that Paul combines deep technical expertise with a clear commercial focus. His understanding of semantic search, entity optimisation and knowledge graph strategy is exceptionally rare.

I've known Paul Truscott for probably almost a decade and I can say without doubt he is one of the "good guys" in our industry. Paul is one of the few that operate with honesty and integrity. He's also one of about three people I trust enough to go to when I have a problem and need a creative solution.

Paul doesn't just follow SEO trends — he actually goes and reads the patents and engineering papers behind how search engines and LLMs work. That's rare. If you want to actually understand why your brand shows up (or doesn't) in AI search results, talk to him.

Paul jumped on a call as a mentor for our private SEO community, and his recommendations from that single call alone had an almost instant, noticeable impact on our members' visibility for their projects.

One conversation with him gives me more clarity than most courses I've paid for. Long before people were talking seriously about entities, datasets, and the structure beneath search queries, Paul was already decoding it. He's always cared more about being right than being loud.

Do you struggle to control how your brand is perceived online in an AI-driven world?

Your Entity Profile Is Inaccurate

AI systems construct your brand's identity from entity-attribute-value data scattered across the web. When that data is inconsistent or uncorroborated, the profile they build is wrong.

You Don't Control Your Knowledge Graph

Google's Knowledge Graph, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity are defining what your brand is. If you're not engineering the structured data and corroboration signals, their output defaults to whatever they find first.

AI Systems Don't Retrieve Your Content

Your content isn't structured for retrieval-augmented generation, your entity lacks corroboration depth, and nothing in your knowledge graph gives the system a reason to select you.

Your Strategy Was Built for a Search Landscape That No Longer Exists

AI Overviews, AI Mode, and conversational search have created surfaces where the answer is generated, not linked to. Optimising for ten organic positions while ignoring share of voice inside AI answers is optimising for a shrinking fraction of visibility.
