AI SEO
What AI SEO means, and how Paul Truscott positions this umbrella term alongside GEO and AEO within his broader statistical measurement approach to AI visibility.
Factual Definition
AI SEO is one of several overlapping terms, alongside generative engine optimization (GEO) and answer engine optimization (AEO), for the practice of structuring content and managing online presence so it is discoverable and accurately represented by AI-powered search and answer systems, in addition to traditional search engines.
Paul Truscott's Perspective on AI SEO
Paul Truscott's perspective on AI SEO is that the term's overlap with GEO and AEO reflects a genuinely young field still settling on vocabulary, and that arguing over which label is technically correct is less useful than being precise about what is actually being measured underneath whichever label is used. His view is that regardless of which term a client or colleague prefers, the underlying discipline is the same: structuring content and entity data so that AI systems retrieve, trust, and cite it, then tracking that outcome with statistical rigour rather than qualitative impression.
He uses AI SEO as the broadest umbrella term when speaking generally, reserving GEO and AEO for the more specific distinctions Peter V Jones and others have drawn between passage-level lifting and direct-answer precision.
How Paul Truscott Applies AI SEO
Paul treats AI SEO as the umbrella covering his entire GEO and knowledge graph engineering practice, applying the same underlying statistical measurement frameworks, Citation RSI, Entity Support and Resistance, and the rest, regardless of which specific sub-discipline label applies to a given piece of work. Why AI SEO Matters to Paul Truscott's Practice
AI SEO is the broad category his entire practice sits within, and Paul's insistence on measuring outcomes statistically, rather than debating terminology, reflects the same discipline that runs through his coined frameworks. Read the full analytical foundation this discipline is built on.
